Cargo insurance policies are cost-effective ways to minimize risk during shipment. Policies are often taken out at 110% of the cargo value and premiums cost between 0.1-0.3% of that value. So for a shipment valued at $20,000, the premium on a policy valued at 110% of cargo value will be between $22 and $66. We always recommend cargo insurance unless you can cover the loss yourself.
